Hurricane Ophelia
September 14th, 2005
This Category-1 hurricane brought heavy flooding to Oak Island and the surrounding townships. We stayed for the storm and it was very exciting to watch even though we didn't have power from dawn to dusk.
Here are 55 pictures of flooding, a burned house, wind damage, and downed trees. All photos were taken from inside my truck. Water levels came up almost to the running boards on the truck in some places.
After this... moving away from the coast may be in the near future.
